  • Hydrographic is Gonville’s latest series of work, combining techniques and subject matter from previous series, while delving deeper into the historical context of seafaring times. “Between Wind and Water” was the term used for the few feet around the waterline on a sailing ship that are alternately exposed to the air or water as the ship rolls through the sea. It was the area aimed at by gunners and the seas would gush in through the damaged hull as the target rolled.
